***SPOILER ALERT!***
While this film was leaps and bounds better than the 2nd installment, there were still flaws that Johnny Depp's brilliant performance barely overcame. The 3rd movie in the Pirates trilogy was full of fantastic special effects, top notch acting (for the most part) and unfortunately, a confusing and all over the place script. The first third of the film I definitely had moments of "wait, what is going on here?" and "whose ship are they on now?". By the middle of the movie I was feeling more comfortable with the plot and was able to enjoy the wonder that is Johnny Depp. He was born to play this character. The scene in Davy Jones' Locker where he was hallucinating was masterful, but one the kids in the theatre were undoubtedly looking at mom and dad for explanation. Orlando Bloom was looking hot as usual and played the tortured swashbuckler to a tee. Keira Knightley once again disappointed me in her more pivotal scenes, especially her ridiculous pep talk. She was very good, however, in the hilarious fight/marriage melee with Orlando Bloom.
If I was to write about all of the plot points in this film I would end up with a 20 page dissertation, as there were that many. Therefore, I leave it at this. See this movie for these reasons: Johnny Depp is brilliant, Orlando Bloom is dreamy, Up-Side down Pirate Ship (so cool), Johnny Depp (wait, I already said that), Keith Richards' cameo, and because it is an interesting *possible* conclusion to the trilogy. But, I do recommend seeing the first 2 before going to this one. If you don't you WILL be lost. Well, you may be lost anyway, but at least you have Johnny Depp to lead you on your way.

I saw this movie last Friday and loved it! I thought Jacks hallucination scenes were really funny.
1I was so disappointed in the end! I thought it was too predictable... I do agree with the marriage scene, excellent. As well as the hallucination... Johnny Depp's character is truly magnificent, I find it so complete... Keira's constant pouting threw me off a little, though
2Yeah, the ending was pretty predictable. Keira pretty much annoyed me throughout, but I am not a huge fan of hers. I thought she was best in the first Pirates movie, good in Bend it Like Beckham and not bad in Pride & Prejudice, but I haven't liked her in much else. She talks through her teeth too much..haha.
3LOL so true! I think she's beautiful, though...
4I detest Keira (for exactly the reasons that yiddi listed, esp. talking through her teeth, I HATE that), but I'm willing to overlook her for the magnificence that is Johnny Depp. Great review, yiddi!!
5I like when they kept going back &forth on the ship till the ship turn over "Up is Down". Johnny Depp was hilarious.I laugh till got watery eyes.Wish there was more of him.
6I saw this finally Sunday and I really liked it, but I think it could have been shorter, I agree with wilma on the flipping the boat scene that killed me, Orlando looked so good at the end of this though, even under the circumstance!!! I wish they had done more once the resolved part of the "Calypso" storyline though, they just kinda dropped it.
7I was lost quite a bit during this movie. I also wondered what happened to the Calypso part. Even though it was all over the place I still enjoyed the movie. I am hoping they come out with another one. The story line could just keep going and going. I would watch it again.
