***SPOILER ALERT!***

While this film was leaps and bounds better than the 2nd installment, there were still flaws that Johnny Depp's brilliant performance barely overcame. The 3rd movie in the Pirates trilogy was full of fantastic special effects, top notch acting (for the most part) and unfortunately, a confusing and all over the place script. The first third of the film I definitely had moments of "wait, what is going on here?" and "whose ship are they on now?". By the middle of the movie I was feeling more comfortable with the plot and was able to enjoy the wonder that is Johnny Depp. He was born to play this character. The scene in Davy Jones' Locker where he was hallucinating was masterful, but one the kids in the theatre were undoubtedly looking at mom and dad for explanation. Orlando Bloom was looking hot as usual and played the tortured swashbuckler to a tee. Keira Knightley once again disappointed me in her more pivotal scenes, especially her ridiculous pep talk. She was very good, however, in the hilarious fight/marriage melee with Orlando Bloom.

If I was to write about all of the plot points in this film I would end up with a 20 page dissertation, as there were that many. Therefore, I leave it at this. See this movie for these reasons: Johnny Depp is brilliant, Orlando Bloom is dreamy, Up-Side down Pirate Ship (so cool), Johnny Depp (wait, I already said that), Keith Richards' cameo, and because it is an interesting *possible* conclusion to the trilogy. But, I do recommend seeing the first 2 before going to this one. If you don't you WILL be lost. Well, you may be lost anyway, but at least you have Johnny Depp to lead you on your way.
