This unintentionally hilarious movie is best when enjoyed with a group of friends who also love the campiness of 80s movies and their cheesy, predictable plotlines.

Best of the Best is no exception when it comes to 80s predictibility, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable -- from an unintentional hilarity standpoint, anyway.

The movie is about a team of US karate dudes who are training to take on Team Korea (go, Korea! Dae Han Min Gook! KO! RE! A!!). They're the underdogs, of course. The team consists of Sonny (the easygoing one), Virgil (the new-age smart aleck), Travis (the wild one -- played by Chris Penn), Alex (the single father who may be too old to hang in the competition -- played by Eric Roberts, Julia Roberts' brother), and Tommy (the prodigy with the secret troubled past). Coach Cuozo (played by James Earl Jones) is strict and hard as nails. They also have a lady trainer named Katherine Wade, who teaches them yoga and concentration and is your standard 80s eye-candy (which means massive shoulder pads, y'all!).

The dialogue is delightfully cheesy -- hilariously so. And, man, can Eric Roberts turn on the waterworks. He's practically crying through the whole movie. It's a wonder that he was able to train at all.

I wouldn't recommend that you watch this movie alone. You need friends to laugh with you in order to get the full experience.

Best of the Best is one of the worst of the worst -- which is exactly what makes it the best of the best. What? Exactly.
