Baby Mama" starring SNL alums Tina Fey and Amy Poehler is like a decent first date where you're glad you didn't get too dressed up or spend too much money.
The story begins with Kate (Fey) a very upwardly mobile V.P. of Round Earth, a Whole Foods knockoff. Kate's biological clock is ringing louder than a NASCAR raceway and after being told of her uncooperative T-shaped uterus and failing at in-vitro and adoption (although she clearly makes six figures), she decides to go the surrogate mommy route.
In comes Angie (Poehler), a junk food eating, smoking, and possible centerfold for Trailer Park Quarterly. Just the person you want to carry your baby. After leaving her moronic common law husband, Carl, she shows up on Kate's doorstep. And the hijinks begin...uh not really. Although Fey and Poehler have great chemistry on SNL, you get the feeling that it's a little forced here, like studio suits didn't let them be themselves or that the movie was focus- grouped to death.
The saving grace of the movie comes from the supporting characters. Steve Martin, as the hippy mogul owner of Round Earth, proves that less is truly more even when invading Kate's personal space, no matter how uncomfortable it makes her. Greg Kinnear as Kate's love interest proves that his agent should be fired. This dude would be believable as the love interest to cheese toast, he's just that good. Sigourney Weaver is also great as the owner of the surrogate agency, a woman who is a senior citizen, but as fertile as the rain forest.
There are definitely funny moments in "Baby Mama," like an insane moment where Fey and Poehler go out clubbing and there's a nice, happy ending, but you come away from "Baby Mama" thinking someone should've called Child Protective Services because this child just wasn't raised well enough.

Thanks for participating in the group! Just a note though, please only submit reviews of movies written by you next time. We don't want the group filled up with reviews that can be read on other sites. This should be a place for Sugar members to give their thoughts on movies they've seen. Thanks!
